Makiyah Moody
Makiyah Moody is a senior consultant with La Piana Consulting. She brings deep experience and creativity in helping organizations effectively lead and manage teams, forge partnerships, and think and act strategically. With a proven track record as a leader and trainer, particularly in areas such as program design and management and board development, Makiyah has consulted to the Scott S. Cowen Institute for Public Education Initiatives at Tulane University, is an executive scholar with the Center for Nonprofit Management at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, and is a BoardSource Certified Governance Trainer. Prior to joining La Piana Consulting, Makiyah directed governance initiatives for the Louisiana Association of Public Charter Schools, founded and led both a consultancy and the New Orleans regional office of Leading Educators, was managing director of finance and operations at KIPP LEAD College Prep Charter School, and was a manager at KIPP Foundation. She was also a founding board member of Nexus City, a New Orleans foundation that connects, inspires, and supports community leaders. Makiyah has an MA in humanities from the University of Chicago and a BA in hispanic studies, magna cum laude, from Wheaton College in Massachusetts, where she currently serves as a trustee.
